For many years Corgi have trained engineers in all aspects of gas safety. This resulted from them being awarded the contract by the Health and Safety executive. In 2008 the HSE put out a tender covering all aspects for which Corgi had been responsible.
The contract was awarded to Capita plc who have introduced the brand and image 'Gas Safe'
From 1st. April 2009 all gas engineers previously registered with Corgi must now register with 'Gas Safe' and the issuing of Gas Safety certificates for landlords, letting agents and home owners can only now be issued by 'Gas Safe' registered engineers
